Kerb Drill

Constable Phil and Kirsty Barr helped the children of Pod 2 learn about how to safely walk on the footpath and cross the road. We learned about sneaky driveways and looking and listening before we cross!

Room 8 found really interesting rough things to share. Lizard skin, crayfish, sandpaper, Velcro, toys, digger tyres, crystals, stones and wood. We could feel the bumpy/rough parts and the smooth.

Wasp Traps

We have been trying to think of ways to get rid of the pesky wasps that seem to be hanging around pod 2. We have come up with a wasp trap that we hope will sort out our pesky problem! 

Stripy Show and Share!

The children of Room 6 bought in something stripy for show and share! We love stripes!!

PMP - Perceptual Motor Programme

PMP is a programme which aims to develop the child's perceptions and understandings of himself or herself in relation to her/his world, through movement/motor experiences. It aims to develop perceptions of height and space, the pattern and order of the child's natural world, the laws and limitations that govern the human body. Above all it aims to give the child confidence to manipulate him/herself in their world to suit her or his own best interests. PMP is seen as part of the programme of total experiences. It is not a physical education programme alone, or music, or fitness, or dance, or gymnastics. It is a programme that uses facets of all of the above in order to develop children's perceptions. The perceptions and judgments that are formed over time help determine how children react to their environment, to others, and to new ideas.

We fit SO MUCH into our day in Pod 2, it can be overwhelming when Mum's and Dad's ask us "What did you do at school today?"....Nothing OR I an easy answer when we are so tired! We love Harold!

Thank you for spending some time with us this afternoon Harold!!! 


When we put vinegar and a small piece of alka seltzer into a film canister we got a fantastic reaction!

Why does this happen?

We noticed fizzling, bubbles, and the container launched into the air.  When we put more vinegar into a container and less in another we had a different outcome.  Samuel thought this was because of the amount of air in the containers!

Pataitai Stations

 Pataitai time is where the children choose learning activities to challenge and extend themselves. They are encouraged to pick stations where they can practise skills they need to get better at. 

We have lots of fun and interesting ways to inspire the children to practice their writing, reading, numeracy, science and art skills. We are learning to self manage our learning and choose stations  that will challenge us. These are some of the new Week 5 stations in Pod 2! Please ask your children about their Pataitai time, and what they are learning!
